Dramatic Georgian Aphrodite & Dolphin Cameo Ring in Gold

An unusual Georgian ring set with a large oval shell cameo carved with a classical mythological scene—likely Aphrodite standing atop a dolphin, with cupid and smaller figures rising from the surrounding waves. The carving is crisp and precise, the white figures standing out against a warm charcoal ground created by the natural layering of the shell. The cameo is set in a Georgian crimped collet bezel with a closed, curved back. Split shoulders extend from the setting, decorated with hand-engraved floral motifs. The construction suggests that this piece is very likely a historical conversion. Please note that this is more of a collectors item than a ring to be worn regularly. It is over 200 years old and should be handled with care.

Good antique condition. Light age-related wear to the mount. Cameo remains secure in setting. Evidence of possible conversion or later setting to the reverse. An unusual collectors ring, over 200 years old.
