Accessibility

Opaline Estate Jewelry is a small, independent shop, and we want our website to work for everyone - including people who browse using a screen reader, a keyboard, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and we work continually to improve our website for all our users.

What we do

  • We write a description for every product photograph and video, so that someone using a screen reader learns what each image shows - a hallmark, a clasp, the reverse of a piece, or a piece held for scale.
  • We review our site with automated accessibility tools and by navigating it with a keyboard.
  • We check new listings as we publish them, so that pieces added to the shop meet the same standard.
  • We aim for readable colour contrast, clear page structure, visible keyboard focus, and pages that work when text is enlarged or a device is set to reduce motion.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is not something a website finishes. We add antique and vintage pieces constantly, standards evolve, and automated tools cannot catch everything. We keep reviewing, and we make improvements as we find them.

Please allow several days for a reply.

If you are interested in a particular piece, we are glad to describe it to you in as much detail as you would like - hallmarks, condition, measurements, wear, and anything else you want to know. If you are having difficulty using any part of the site, get in touch and we will help you. If you are unable to complete a purchase through our checkout, we can send you a PayPal invoice by email instead.
