Rare Antique Foiled Purple Paste Art Nouveau Festoon Necklace

A rare and remarkable antique festoon necklace featuring a playful fringe of acorn shaped drops, each with embossed foliate scrollwork and purple foiled-back paste stones in bezel settings. The hollow links and light construction allow the piece to drape beautifully across the collarbone, culminating in a 2.75-inch front drop. Crafted in brassy/gold tone metal with a floral-engraved box clasp, this turn-of-the-century treasure captures the romantic fluidity and organic forms that defined Art Nouveau design.

The Art Nouveau jewelry style emphasized natural motifs—vines, flowers, and curvilinear lines—often paired with colored glass and paste stones rather than precious gems. This piece has a very Czech look to it, however it is unsigned. This rare antique necklace will be a standout in any vintage costume jewelry collection.
