This Victorian costume crescent moon brooch is set with hand-cut paste stones across its curved frame. The colorless pastes are bright and glittering, arranged in graduated sizes that follow the arc of the crescent. A gold wash finishes the base metal, giving the piece a warm tone. The brooch fastens with a C clasp, a closure style typical of nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century jewelry.
