This Victorian mechanical pencil features a cylindrical body in chased hard early plastic with a gold filled metal cap and fittings. The black surface has a wonderful applied texture, and the telescoping mechanism expands and contracts smoothly. When the bulb on the end is pulled, the pencil extends and retracts. Though the mechanism works well, this piece is sold as a collectable. The pencil is by the popular turn of the century maker, Fairchild.
