This Art Deco giardinetti brooch takes the form of double pair of flower baskets, set throughout with paste glass gems in green, red, pink, and colorless paste. This brooch has hand-applied milgrain beading throughout with openwork details. A large drong station sits at the center, anchoring the design, this likely would have held a small watch at one point. The sterling silver frame holds the stones in an arrangement typical of the "fruit salad" or "tutti frutti" style popular in the 1920s and 30s, where colorful carved or molded glass mimicked gemstones. This piece is quintessentially art deco with its juicy cabochon flowers and crisp linear design. A fantastic example and a little piece of history!
