Here is an antique Mizpah brooch in 9k solid gold. This Victorian brooch features a few great examples of iconic Victorian symbolism, including the Ivy around the border. Sentimental Mizpah jewelry was quite popular in the Victorian period. This Mizpah pin has many hallmarks of Victorian aesthetic period design, including floral motifs, Asian-inspired linear designs, and an asymmetrical form. This little brooch is fully hallmarked for gold and is ready to wear, collect, or gift! Mizpah is a Hebrew word for "watchtower." Mizpah jewelry would be worn by those separated from each other, friends, lovers, and anyone else. Mizpah jewelry was worn as a sentimental reminder and promise. A line in Genesis reads, "And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another."
