Antique Cut Steel Beaded Pansy Chatelaine Purse

A striking antique cut steel purse featuring densely set faceted steel beads, catching light with a metallic shimmer. The hinged top is decorated with repoussé pansy motifs—long associated with the sentiment “think of me”—adding a layer of old world symbolism to the piece. Suspended from a short chain, this would have been worn at the waist by fashionable turn-of-the-century women. Looped steel bead fringe along the base adds movement. This piece is beautiful however best suited for display. A compelling example of late 19th to early 20th century metalwork, this does have visible wear throughout in the form of oxidation and wear to the leather pouch. This little treasure would be beautiful hung on the wall as a display item.

CONDITION
Worn antique condition. Visible rust throughout, particularly on the chain and inside the metal opening. Beadwork remains intact and secure with no noticeable strings/frays, but delicate. Sold as found; best suited for display rather than use.
